The SteamPunk Café & Coffee House in Port Alberni, British Columbia, has officially reopened after a temporary closure caused by flooding. The shop, located at 3025 3rd Avenue, experienced water ingress tied to drainage disruption following a nearby building fire and the subsequent demolition of the adjoining property in early 2026.
Owner Carol-Anne Zanette brought in professional remediation services, including Roto-Rooter (Port Alberni), to clear drains, extract water and sanitize the space before reopening. Zanette, who has been active with the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce, worked to ensure the shop met health and safety standards for food service before welcoming customers back.
The business has resumed hosting its community reading lounge in partnership with Literacy Alberni. The reopening marks a return to normal for the local social hub after a series of disruptions earlier in the year.
