The St. Thomas Public Library Board has announced that Aaron DeVries will take over as the new Library CEO effective January 1, 2026, in St. Thomas, Ontario. The board has updated its website to include meeting agendas and minute placeholders for the 2026 calendar year, listing scheduled meetings and linked agendas.

DeVries has held senior management roles at the library and elsewhere, and has been reported variously as Manager, Digital & Support Services and as Manager of Strategy and Operations; he will succeed Heather Robinson, who is retiring after 27 years of service to the organization. According to St. Thomas Today, the incoming CEO plans to focus on making sure the library meets the needs of a growing city.

Residents can attend board meetings on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:00 p.m., from September through June, in the Carnegie Room (Lower Level) of the library; July and August typically have no meetings. Meeting agendas are typically posted 24–48 hours before meetings on the library’s official board page, allowing the public to see what topics will be discussed.

The Board provides oversight and guidance for the library’s buildings, programs and technology services and will play a key role in implementing the library’s Master Plan. People interested in joining the Board should monitor the City of St. Thomas ‘Boards and Committees’ page for recruitment calls and appointment details.
