The Aurora Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that the town’s annual Street Festival will return to Aurora, Ontario, on June 7, 2026. The event is set to take place on Yonge Street between Wellington Street and Murray Drive, transforming the road into a pedestrian-only area for the day.
The festival typically hosts more than 500 vendors and is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors to the downtown area. Families can expect a full day of activities, including live music, professional street performers, and a vintage car show. The event is a major part of the Explore Aurora tourism program, which helps bring people from across the region to support local businesses.
According to the Town of Aurora, the community is commonly known as “Canada’s Birthday Town” — a moniker that dates back to 1967 and was formally proclaimed by Town Council on June 9, 1969. This festival serves as an early start to the town’s month-long birthday celebrations that lead up to July 1. Mayor Tom Mrakas has emphasized the town’s pride in these celebrations; as the Town of Aurora noted in a June 3, 2025, news release, “There’s no better place to celebrate than right here in Aurora — Canada’s Birthday Town — where we come together to honour our past, embrace our future, and show our pride in the greatest country in the world.”
For those planning to attend or travel through the area, road closures typically begin around 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event. The festival itself will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Local businesses and residents are encouraged to plan ahead for the extra foot traffic and the closure of Yonge Street during these hours.
