Selkirk Park Campground Sets Rules For Returning Campers

The City of Selkirk has clarified the rules for people who want to keep the same camping spot at Selkirk Park, Manitoba, for the 2026 season. To qualify as a returning camper with priority for a site, a person must have booked that same spot for between 113 and 143 consecutive nights during the previous year (the 2025 season). The policy ensures that those who stay for nearly the full season are given the first opportunity to return to their preferred location.

The City of Selkirk (campground.myselkirk.ca) sent emails in January 2026 to campers who met this requirement with instructions on how to submit their applications and deposits. The policy affects the park’s 165 camping sites (135 with power) and is meant to make the booking process easier for the city’s longest-staying visitors. By setting a high bar for returning status, the city is focusing on campers who commit to most of the operating season.

Selkirk Park management says the city does not set aside specific sites just for long-term use; instead, returning seasonal campers are given an early application window and, if a campsite is available for the season when the reservation system goes live, that site can be booked as a seasonal. Any sites not claimed by these returning campers will be released to the general public when the reservation system opens on April 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

While this provides certainty for families who spend the whole summer at the park, it means those who only camp for a few weeks must wait for the public booking date to open. The park, highlighted by Travel Manitoba, remains a major local draw because of its boat launch, pool and splash pad, and proximity to the Red River.
