The Essex County OPP Detachment Board – North has published its 2026 meeting calendar on the Town of Tecumseh website, listing sessions on February 9 (including a 10:30 a.m. in‑camera session), April 13, June 8, September 21, a special budget meeting on November 2, and December 14. All residents of Tecumseh, Lakeshore and Essex are invited to observe how local policing priorities will be set and performance reviewed under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.

Each meeting will take place at the Town of Tecumseh Council Chambers (917 Lesperance Road, Tecumseh, ON) with a virtual attendance option via Tecumseh.ca/live. Anyone wishing to address the board must submit a request at least nine working days before the meeting date; requests are handled by Karen Murteira, Administrative Support (kmurteira@tecumseh.ca).

The board provides civilian oversight of the Ontario Provincial Police detachment serving the three municipalities. In 2026, members will begin implementing and monitoring the 2026–2029 Essex County OPP Detachment Action Plan and will review shared policing costs at the November budget meeting.

Chair Paul Sweet and Vice Chair Dave Kigar will lead the sessions alongside Superintendent Mark Loucas, Essex County OPP Detachment Commander, who will report on local crime trends and operational performance. These public forums offer residents a direct chance to raise concerns about issues such as traffic safety on Highway 401 and vandalism in community parks.
