The Rotary Club of High River is now recruiting local teenagers to participate in the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN), a leadership development camp taking place May 1–4, 2026 at a camp on the Little Bow Travers Reservoir. The program helps students build self-confidence and teamwork through hands-on workshops and group activities.
Known as RYPEN, the camp is designed for youth aged 13 to 17 who want to grow their leadership potential; this typically corresponds to students in grades 9 through 11. The program focuses on practical skills such as communication, ethics/personal values, and team-building.
The 2026 camp is scheduled to overlap with the District 5360 conference (May 1–3, 2026 in Red Deer), providing opportunities for youth and adult leaders across Southern Alberta to connect and network. The High River club typically provides full or partial sponsorship for local students — RYPEN is free to participants when their Rotary club sponsors them (district sponsorship is listed at $625 per participant to cover meals, accommodation and materials).
Interested students can be nominated by staff at local schools or can apply through the High River Rotary, which meets Thursdays at 7:00 PM at the Highwood Memorial Centre. RYPEN is part of Rotary International’s youth leadership programming and aims to provide training and mentorship for the next generation of community leaders.
