Residents in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, are seeing an unseasonably warm stretch this week before winter conditions are expected to return with snow on February 17, 2026. The shift in weather will bring a mix of melting snow and icy roads to the community over the next several days.

According to Environment Canada, daytime highs will reach nearly +5°C through February 13. This is significantly warmer than the usual February averages tracked by Climate Data Canada, which are typically much colder for this time of year.

The City of Weyburn suggests that residents check their nearest storm sewer grates to make sure they are not blocked by ice or debris. Clearing snow away from home foundations now can also help prevent water from seeping into basements during the daytime thaw.

The warm spell is expected to end over the weekend, making way for periods of snow on Tuesday. Drivers should be careful of black ice forming on highways when wet roads freeze over as the temperature drops during the night.

Commuters can monitor travel conditions and visibility through the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline. City crews are also preparing to clear drainage points before the current slush turns into hard ice ruts next week.
