On February 19, 2026, Conestoga College’s Centre for Health Care Research & Innovation (CHRI) will host a virtual session of its ‘Community of Health Care Research’ series to help residents in Exeter, Ontario connect with local health‑care training and job pathways. The event is designed to show students and health workers how they can take part in applied projects and work placements while remaining in their home community.

Conestoga’s Centre for Health Care Research & Innovation is running the session to connect classroom learning with local medical needs. Attendees will hear about active projects — including work in senior care — and learn about co‑op, clinical placement and internship opportunities.

Local partners named in Conestoga materials include REACH Huron (the Regional Equine & Agricultural Centre of Huron) and South Huron Hospital (part of Huron Health System). These stakeholders are part of the regional effort to create ‘pathways’ from high school and post‑secondary education into local health‑care roles, helping reduce the tendency for graduates to relocate to larger centres.

The session is part of the ‘REACH: Med 25%’ initiative — a local strategy referenced in Conestoga briefing materials that aims to increase the local health workforce by 25% by 2026. Organizers say the goal is to ensure applied research and training are used in local clinics and home‑based care rather than only in distant research labs.
