On February 10, 2026, Edmonton’s Food Bank was named as a winner of a grant that will help fund food procurement and delivery truck operations serving Sherwood Park, Alberta. The funding comes from the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Awards program, which supports nonprofit organizations addressing hunger and community needs.

The money will be used to buy food and cover the expenses of operating trucks that transport supplies to Sherwood Park and the rest of Strathcona County. This support arrives as the number of people struggling to afford food reaches record levels in the province, with one in four households reporting difficulty affording groceries.

According to Edmonton’s Food Bank, the organization currently helps more than 43,000 people every month and provides over 450,000 meals and snacks. By offsetting the costs of fuel and vehicle maintenance for its delivery fleet, the group can redirect more of its donations toward direct food assistance.

While the regional warehouse manages the deliveries, the food bank works closely with local groups to ensure residents get what they need. Organizers say that despite this new funding, they still rely on local volunteers and food drives to keep pace with the high demand in the community.
