More than 80 youth athletes from Red Deer, Alberta, recently finished competing at the 2026 Alberta Winter Games. The event took place from February 13 to 16, 2026, in the Lakeland Region towns of Cold Lake, Bonnyville, and Glendon.

Red Deer was represented by a large group of competitors who were part of the Zone 4 (Parkland) team, which included more than 250 athletes. These athletes, aged 11 to 16, joined a total of 2,400 participants, including coaches and officials, for the provincial multi-sport competition.

According to the 2026 Alberta Winter Games, participants competed in 18 different sports like hockey, curling, and volleyball. Red Deer wrestler Noah Richard earned a fourth-place finish in the 83 kg weight class during the four-day event.

Local groups like the Red Deer Skating Club sent members to the games to test their skills against the best in the province. The competition is designed to help young athletes develop their skills for future high-level sporting events.
