On February 23, 2026, the provincial government officially congratulated curler Brett Gallant and Team Brad Jacobs for winning the gold medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Gallant, who has deep ties to the community of Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island, helped his team secure the victory in the men’s curling final.

Team Brad Jacobs won the gold medal after defeating Great Britain’s Team Bruce Mouat with a final score of 9-6. This victory marks the second Olympic medal for Gallant, who previously earned a bronze medal during the winter games in 2022.

The Honourable Ernie Hudson, the Minister responsible for Sport for the Government of Prince Edward Island, issued a statement praising Gallant’s hard work and dedication. Hudson noted that Gallant’s journey from local rinks to the Olympic podium serves as an inspiration for young people across the province.

Gallant maintains strong professional and family connections to the Montague Curling Club in Three Rivers. His father, Peter Gallant, is a member of the PEI Sports Hall of Fame and has long been a key figure in the local curling community.

The provincial government highlighted that this success shows how local clubs and community arenas can help athletes reach world-class levels. Following the gold medal win, there is renewed interest in local curling programs, and community recognition events are expected in the coming weeks.
