On December 19, 2025, the Chatham‑Kent Police Service posted a daily news summary reporting four arrests linked to incidents that took place on December 18 in Chatham.

Officers responded to disturbances, shoplifting and property damage during a busy holiday shopping period. In one incident on Third Street, a 40‑year‑old man from Tilbury was arrested after repeatedly returning to a business where he had been trespassed and charged with causing a disturbance.

On Park Street, officers on patrol located a 29‑year‑old man who was wanted on outstanding warrants. During the encounter he provided false identification and was arrested; he faces charges including obstruction of a police officer, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and multiple counts related to identity documents.

At a retail store on St. Clair Street, a loss‑prevention officer and police intervened and a 33‑year‑old man from Chatham‑Kent was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A separate incident involving damage to a business window on Grand Avenue West (logged under Vanier Drive) led to the arrest of a 27‑year‑old man from Chatham; he faces a charge of mischief under $5,000.

“The Chatham‑Kent Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. We continue to monitor ongoing investigations and encourage residents to report any suspicious activities,” the service said in its media release.

The service notes these incidents come amid seasonal increases in property‑related offences; local reporting and police statements this year have urged extra vigilance during the holiday season. Residents and businesses are asked to secure valuables and report concerns to CKPS through the non‑emergency line and the contacts listed on the police website.
