The City of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, is starting a project to replace an aging wastewater station and its main sewer pipe to keep local utilities running smoothly. This maintenance work was officially announced on March 3, 2026, as the city began looking for contractors to handle the upgrades.
The project includes putting in 83 metres of new sewer lines and about 550 metres of main piping using a drilling method that limits the need for digging open trenches. Crews will also take apart an old station used to pump wastewater and install a new one with updated equipment near 2400 John Hart Highway.
While the work is necessary to prevent future service failures, it will likely lead to some traffic changes and possible short-term utility impacts for people living or traveling near the project site. Once the underground pipes are in place, the city plans to restore the surrounding pavement and landscaping.
Contractors who want to work on the project can attend a meeting at the site on March 10, 2026. All final proposals must be sent to the city by March 27, 2026.
