The Grande Prairie Stompede Association is hosting its 2026 Tarp Auction Gala and Fundraiser on April 11, 2026, in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This community event brings together residents and business owners to kick off the upcoming chuckwagon racing season.
The night features a dinner and a live auction where local businesses bid for sponsorship rights on the tarps of racing teams. These teams are part of the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) circuit and will compete during the annual Stompede in late May. While the tarp auction bids support the drivers and their teams, proceeds from the gala’s other fundraising initiatives are donated to the Unbridled program.
The Unbridled program is an equine-assisted trauma therapy initiative operated by the Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) in partnership with the Stompede Association. It offers therapy for youth by using the bond between people and horses to help participants navigate healing from traumatic events. Guests at the fundraiser will also be treated to live music from Duane Steele and The Kings of Country.
