On the evening of March 6, 2026, a 43-year-old man was safely arrested in North Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, during a coordinated effort between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Summerside Police Services. The man was taken into custody after failing to report to jail and removing his court-ordered ankle monitor.
The operation, which took place at a residence on Freetown Road, led to the closure of Route 8 for several hours. The provincial police force worked alongside the Summerside Police Services to locate and apprehend the individual, who was believed to be possibly armed. No injuries were reported, and the road reopened at approximately 11:40 p.m. that night.
The man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for missing his required time in jail. He also faced charges for allegedly tampering with the electronic monitoring device used to track his location.
Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Summerside Police. This joint effort allowed the two police departments to resolve the case and ensure the individual met his legal obligations.officers
