On March 9, 2026, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged a 37-year-old man with manslaughter following a long investigation into a drug-related death in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Detectives charged Andrew Nolan with manslaughter and trafficking fentanyl. The charges are connected to the death of 35-year-old Joshua Tauvette, who was found deceased on August 25, 2023, due to drug intoxication.

In a separate update, the police department is also looking into an assault on Queen Street East. As of March 10, 2026, officers had not received an official report about the incident, but they have assigned a detective to investigate the matter.
