The Public Schools Branch released a mid-year report in February 2026 that highlights a new student support program and leadership changes for schools in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
One of the main projects is a program called Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports, which is now running in 18 schools across the province. This program focuses on teaching students how to make good choices and build strong relationships to create safer and more respectful classrooms.
The report also confirmed that the recent board elections have finished. Emily McKeown has been elected as the new trustee to represent the Three Oaks family of schools, serving as the local voice for families in the area.
According to the update, these changes are part of a larger plan to improve safety and keep the public informed about school operations. The branch is focusing on these systemic improvements to help schools grow as supportive spaces for all students for the remainder of the 2026 school year.
