The City of Grande Prairie, Alberta, officially ended parking restrictions on its busiest snow clearing routes as of March 12, 2026. This move allows residents to resume street parking on major roads that were previously kept clear for snow plows and trucks.

The restrictions were lifted at 2:00 p.m. after being in place for several weeks. The city originally started the parking ban on February 18, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. to give crews enough space to remove heavy snow and ice from main traffic areas.

While the rules for major roads have changed, drivers still need to watch for signs on side streets. Temporary parking bans remain active in residential neighbourhoods on their specific clearing days between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

These ongoing residential rules are necessary to finish cleaning up local streets. Moving vehicles during these times ensures that equipment can safely clear snow without being blocked by parked cars.
