The Grande Prairie Technical Institute will open in the former Harry Balfour School building in Grande Prairie, Alberta, in September 2026. This new school will provide local students with hands-on training in several trade industries.
As a non-profit public charter school, the facility will serve students from grades 7 to 12. The school, located at the corner of 108 Avenue and 104 Street, has enough space to welcome a total of 275 students into its programs.
The curriculum includes specific training in automotive technology, construction and carpentry, and welding and metal fabrication. Students can also learn about culinary arts and how to work in a commercial kitchen.
The school is currently accepting admissions for the 2026-2027 school year for students entering grades 7 through 10. The final date to submit an application for these grades is April 30, 2026.
