A major milestone highlighted is the upcoming construction of the new indoor field house. Following its approval in previous budget cycles, the facility is moving forward to meet the growing need for year-round indoor sports and recreation space. This project, located in the Buckingham Drive “sports hub,” will provide dedicated turf and track areas for residents to stay active regardless of the season.
Strathcona County Emergency Services is also actively recruiting. The 2026 recruitment period for full-time firefighter/paramedics is currently open through March 31. These integrated roles are vital to the community’s safety, combining firefighting and advanced life support medical response. Interested candidates can view current careers on the County website.
For older residents, the mayor highlighted the Seniors’ Property Tax Rebate program, which provides a $250 rebate to assist low-income senior homeowners with the cost of living.
