Queen’s Musical Theatre will bring the stage version of Stephen King’s horror classic to the Baby Grand Theatre in Kingston, Ontario, for a series of shows starting April 10, 2026. The production of CARRIE: The Musical is scheduled to run for 11 performances until April 19, 2026. This student-run organization from Queen’s University has been staging local productions since 1969.
The musical is based on the 1974 novel by Stephen King and follows the story of a bullied teenager with telekinetic powers. While the show originally struggled on Broadway in 1988, a successful 2012 revival helped it become a popular choice for theatre groups. This version is licensed through Concord Theatricals and includes music from Academy Award-winning composers.
According to the Kingston Grand Theatre, tickets for the show at the Princess Street venue are priced at $29.13 for adults and $19.98 for students. A special opening night price of $10 is available for the performance on April 10, 2026. The show runs for about two hours with a 15-minute break, and due to safety rules, guests cannot re-enter the room once the performance has started.
Organizers suggest that the production is intended for mature audiences because it contains depictions of bullying, violence, and religious extremism. The staging also uses technical effects like strobe lights, loud sounds, and dry ice. These elements are used to tell the story of the main character’s experience at her high school prom night.
