On December 22, in Wallaceburg, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Emergency Response Team, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police, carried out a tactical operation at a home on Wallace Street. Officers began the deployment at about 2:30 p.m., set up a safety cordon and asked residents to avoid Murray Street, Victoria Street and Bruce Street while they executed court-approved warrants.

According to the CKPS public advisory, “The area was secured, and containment was established as a precaution to ensure public and officer safety while judicial authorization to enter the residence was obtained.” After continued coordination with the OPP, officers entered the home without incident and took two men into custody. The advisory states that two individuals, a 41-year-old male and a 35-year-old male, both from Wallaceburg, were arrested without injury.

The CKPS advisory reports the 41-year-old male was arrested in relation to OPP-led charges and was assumed into OPP custody. The 35-year-old male was charged by CKPS with: Fail to Comply with a Release Order; Possession of a Controlled Substance (Illicit Drugs); Fail to Attend Court; and Possession of Stolen Property, as confirmed by local media coverage.

The operation highlights the growing role of the CKPS Emergency Response Team, which recently achieved full tactical status. Local and dossier reporting note the unit has been used for similar high-risk entries earlier this year on Park Street and King Street as part of enforcement targeting drug-related activity and repeat bail violations.
