York Regional Police are investigating after gunshots were fired at a GFL Environmental building in Aurora, Ontario, on the night of March 19, 2026. The shooting took place at a commercial facility located at 14131 Bayview Avenue, just north of Bloomington Road, at approximately 9:45 p.m.
No one was injured during the incident, but the building suffered significant property damage, including a shattered front door. Police report that a suspect fled the area in a vehicle shortly after the shots were fired, though a description of the person or the car has not yet been released.
Investigators are now looking into whether this shooting is connected to other recent attacks on the waste management company across the Greater Toronto Area. This includes two separate shootings at a hauling yard in North York that occurred earlier in March 2026.
GFL Environmental provides garbage and recycling services for many local communities in York Region. This incident is part of an ongoing police probe into a series of violent acts targeting the company’s facilities and leadership that dates back to 2024.
