Horse Expo Canada is returning to Westerner Park in Red Deer, Alberta, from April 24 to April 26, 2026. This three-day event is the largest of its kind in the country and is expected to attract between 10,000 and 20,000 visitors to see over 230 different vendors and displays.
The event includes educational sessions with horse experts such as Tik Maynard and Warwick Schiller, alongside a fashion show and an art gallery. Fans of the TV show Heartland can also meet actor Shaun Johnston, who will be performing music and hosting a special discussion panel on Saturday afternoon.
One of the main attractions is the Trainers Showdown, a competition where skilled riders like Braden Bernier and Kyle Fischer show how they work with horses. This contest runs throughout the weekend and ends with a final performance at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The American Quarter Horse Association will be at the show to help people with horse registrations and memberships. The expo is open from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Westerner Park has served the community for 134 years and brings in about 1.5 million visitors every year for various local events. Parking at the facility is free for this event, and tickets can be found on the official horse expo website.
