The Yorkton Film Festival has officially opened registration for its 2026 event, which takes place from May 20, 2026, to May 24, 2026, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This year marks the 79th anniversary of the festival, which is the longest-running event of its kind in North America.
Residents can now buy full weekend passes or individual day passes for the festival. There are also tickets available for social events like the Lobsterfest and the annual Gala. Students can access lower prices by providing a valid ID, and all paid passes include access to free film screenings at the Gallagher Centre.
Organizers have already announced the first 17 categories of nominees for the Golden Sheaf Awards. The remaining categories, including the Ruth Shaw Best of Saskatchewan award, will be announced in April 2026. This festival also serves as a qualifying event for the Canadian Screen Awards.
New filmmakers have until March 31, 2026, to apply for the RBC YFF Mentorship Program. This program provides 46 hours of professional guidance through both in-person and digital sessions. The partnership between the festival and the RBC Foundation was recently renewed for another two years to support people entering the film industry.
