Residents in Sherwood Park, Alberta, are invited to help clean up local trails and green spaces during the annual Pitch-In program from April 20 to May 3, 2026. The Strathcona County initiative encourages families, sports teams, and individuals to pick up litter that has accumulated over the winter months.
A kickoff event will be held at Broadmoor Lake Park on April 19, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. Residents can visit the park to pick up free cleanup bags and other items before the two-week event begins the following day.
Those who want to help can register by calling 780-467-2211 or emailing [email protected]. Once volunteers fill their bags with trash, they can leave them near park entrances for county staff to collect and haul away.
In 2024, more than 1,300 volunteers spent over 950 hours cleaning up the community. Mayor Rod Frank said the program shows the strong community spirit in the area and helps keep the county clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
This local effort is part of a larger national movement supported by Pitch-In Canada. Over the years, local volunteers have collected more than 4,200 bags of trash from parks and trails across the region.
