Award-winning musician Teagan Littlechief performed a season finale concert at the Anne Portnuff Theatre in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, on the evening of March 26, 2026. The event was the final performance in a seven-show series presented by the Yorkton Arts Council.
Littlechief comes from the White Bear First Nation and is recognized as one of the leading Indigenous musicians in the country. She was named the 2025 Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year by SaskMusic and is currently traveling across the province on a tour organized by the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils. She previously made history in 2024 as the first Indigenous woman to win the Female Artist of the Year award from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association.
The concert was hosted in partnership with local Indigenous organizations to help celebrate talent and cultural traditions. This effort follows the return of the Yorkton Indigenous Friendship Centre, which began operating again in 2024 after a long absence from the community. The centre now runs several programs in the area, including youth drumming groups, networking nights, and healing circles.
The Anne Portnuff Theatre is a well-known venue located inside Yorkton Regional High School that serves as a hub for the arts. The performance brought community members together in Treaty 4 territory, which is also home to the Yorkton Tribal Council and the six member nations it represents.
