Summerside, Prince Edward Island is set to host two major national baseball tournaments this August, marking the first time in over 50 years that the city will welcome the Baseball Canada Cup and the first time it has hosted two national championships in the same month.
The Baseball Canada Cup, which features under-17 players from all 10 provinces, will run from August 5-9, 2026. Following that, the Ray Carter Cup—the national championship for 15-and-under players—is set for August 20-23, 2026. Named after the longest-serving Baseball Canada president, the Ray Carter Cup is currently held by British Columbia, which won the title in 2025.
All games will be held at Queen Elizabeth Park at the Very Important Volunteer Field and Legends Field. These events are expected to draw hundreds of athletes, families, and fans to the community, providing a significant boost to local tourism and the economy. Estimates suggest the Canada Cup alone could generate between $3.5 and $5 million in economic benefits for the region.
Beyond the local impact, the tournaments serve as a high-level stage for developing athletes. The Canada Cup is a key step in the path toward the national junior team and the biennial World Junior Baseball Championship. Organizing these events will require significant community support, with approximately 100 volunteers needed for the Canada Cup, according to the City of Summerside.
