The Canmore Mountain Market is returning for its 2026 season, with the Town of Canmore confirming the weekly event will begin on May 21, 2026. The market will run for 20 consecutive Thursdays through October 1, 2026, offering residents and visitors a chance to shop for local goods.
The event takes place at Elevation Place, located at 700 Railway Avenue. Visitors can attend the market each Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market remains open rain or shine, allowing the community to enjoy coffee, live music, and shopping with a mountain backdrop regardless of the weather.
This summer tradition has been a staple in the community for over 25 years. More than 75 vendors are expected to participate this year, showcasing fresh produce, meats, baked goods, handmade crafts, and artisanal items. The market follows the provincial 80/20 rule, which ensures that at least 80% of vendor products are produced within Alberta or British Columbia.
While the vendor application period for the 2026 season closed on March 1, late applicants have been placed on a waitlist for potential openings. The market attracts approximately 3,000 visitors each day it is held. According to event organizers, priority for vendor selection is given to Bow Valley residents who meet quality standards, with a focus on highlighting local farmers and food producers.
