Dawson Creek, British Columbia is hosting the prestigious Coy Cup for the first time in the tournament’s 104-year history. The provincial Senior Male AA hockey championship is taking place from March 31 to April 4, 2026, at the Ovintiv Events Centre, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The four-team competition features the host Dawson Creek Canucks, who head into the tournament following a successful regular season where they finished with 15 wins and only one loss. They are joined by the Quesnel Kangaroos, the Powell River Regals, and the Rossland Senior Warriors. The Coy Cup, which was first awarded in the 1922-23 season, remains one of the province’s oldest and most respected hockey traditions.
Local leadership has welcomed the event as a major boost for the area. Dawson Creek Mayor Darcy Dober and Canucks General Manager Jeff Taylor have expressed their pride in hosting the provincial event. To support the tournament and cover ice costs, the Dawson Creek city council contributed $3,500.
A professional officiating team has been selected by BC Hockey to manage the games. The team includes referees Brett McLean, Scott Morgan, and Kevin Lindsay, working alongside Derek Nernberg, Brett McCracken, Justin Kristoff, Chris Gallant, Tracy Travis, Brian Hromadnik, and officiating coach Mallory Smith.
Fans looking to attend the games can purchase individual round-robin tickets starting at $10, with an all-tournament package available for $65.
