After a scoreless first period, the Capitals offence found its rhythm with a strong performance that saw the team record 43 shots on goal, their highest output of the series so far. Elliott Mullen opened the scoring at 5:29 of the second period, followed by a goal from Justin Ouellette at 16:17 to extend the lead to 2-0. Jordan Shaw added a final goal just one minute into the third period to seal the win.
At the other end of the ice, Summerside goaltender Kolton Bourret turned away all 24 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the playoffs. Truro goaltender Sam Berthiaume stopped 40 shots in the loss. The Bearcats were unable to capitalize on any of their three power play opportunities during the game.
This series features the top two teams from the regular season, with both the Capitals and the Bearcats finishing with 72 points. The teams are now preparing for Game 4, which is slated for Thursday night at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro.
