The Town of Aurora is moving forward with planned upgrades to local recreational facilities as part of its approved 2026 capital budget. While some reports recently circulated regarding a new playground at a location called Phillips Lake Park, the municipality confirms that no such park exists within the town, and the individual identified as the councillor behind the announcement is not a member of the current town council.
According to the Town of Aurora, the 2026 capital budget, which was officially adopted on December 8, 2025, focuses on identified community needs. The town’s 2026 Parks and Recreation Status Report outlines the actual priorities for the current year. These projects include playground replacements at Optimist Park and Atkinson Park, as well as the addition of a new splash pad at Fleury Park.
Recent infrastructure investments in the community include the accessibility upgrades at Town Park, which were completed in December 2024. That project was finished with a total budget of $600,000 to ensure the facility is accessible to all residents. The town encourages citizens to consult official municipal resources to stay informed on verified capital projects and park improvements.
