Residents of Mississippi Mills will have a new opportunity to enjoy local arts programming, as the Sivarulrasa Gallery in Almonte hosts two new exhibitions running from April 11 to May 15, 2026.
The gallery, located at 34 Mill Street in the community’s historic arts district, will feature the work of two artists in separate spaces. Gallery I will present Dale Dunning: Early Works, a collection of bronze sculptures created between 1978 and 2004 by the Ottawa-born sculptor. Dunning has operated a foundry near Almonte for more than four decades and holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His sculptures are held in various public collections, including those of the City of Ottawa and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Montreal. Regarding his work, Dunning noted that his sculptures are objects of reflection and contemplation.
In Gallery III, the exhibition Liz Jackson: Blanketed will showcase abstract paintings by the Saskatchewan-born artist, who is now based in Ompah. Her work is inspired by winter landscapes on the Canadian Shield and utilizes layered surfaces made with inks, graphite, coloured pencils, pastels, and collage elements. Jackson described the series as a focus on the winter glimpses that catch the eye under a blanket of snow, noting how the changing snow on the Canadian Shield shifts the view of rocks, lichen, and dried foliage. Her work has been featured in Ontario exhibitions and is held in private collections internationally.
A public opening reception for both exhibitions will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event provides an opportunity for community members to meet both artists and view the new works on display. The gallery was founded by Sanjeev Sivarulrasa in 2014 and has served as a space for both emerging and established artists within the region.
