Young residents in Yorkton are invited to explore their creativity and connect with their peers at a new, cultural program starting April 18, 2026. The Connecting Cultures Through Art and Dance event will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at  The Godfrey Dean Art Gallery, 49 Smith St E, Yorkton, offering newcomer youth aged 10 to 18 a chance to participate in professional-led workshops.

The initiative includes a series of 10 dance classes and 10 art classes designed to celebrate diversity through creative expression. The program will continue through June 2026, with regular sessions held on Fridays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

This initiative builds upon the city’s ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive community, following previous projects like the Connecting Cultures video series, which highlighted diverse heritage from nations including China, India, Ukraine, Nigeria, and the Philippines, as well as local First Nations traditions. These efforts are also supported by the East Central Saskatchewan Immigration Partnership, which works to coordinate local settlement and integration services.
