Two 19-year-old Sarnia residents have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Dane Nisbet at Lambton College on April 10, 2026.
Ava-Leigh Lightheart and Johnathan Osborne-Walsh were taken into custody on April 12, 2026. Both individuals face multiple charges, including accessory after the fact to murder and various firearm-related offences. Following a bail hearing, Lightheart remains in custody, while Osborne-Walsh is set to appear in Sarnia bail court on April 13, 2026.
The shooting took place at 12:52 a.m. during an event hosted by the student administrative council at the Lions Den pub. Nisbet, a former junior hockey player who had played for the Sarnia Legionnaires, Mooretown Flags, and North Middlesex Stars, was one of three people struck by gunfire. He was transported to Bluewater Health, where he was later pronounced deceased. Police have noted that all three victims had previously played junior hockey together.
Investigators recovered the firearm believed to be used in the shooting at a hotel in Point Edward on April 12. Police believe the handgun was sourced in the United States and is not registered in Canada.
Authorities have already charged 23-year-old Oudom Bun of London, Ontario, with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in relation to the incident. However, police are still searching for a third suspect, 24-year-old Kyaw Doe, also of London. Doe is considered armed and dangerous, and police believe he may have ties to criminal elements in western and northern Ontario. He is not currently believed to be in the Sarnia area.
Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis held a media conference at the Sarnia Police Service headquarters on the morning of April 13 to provide an update on the ongoing investigation. This incident marks the second homicide linked to the college in the past 16 months.
