Residents in Selkirk, Manitoba, should prepare for a week of volatile spring weather as temperatures are expected to swing significantly over the coming days.
Environment Canada reports that this Sunday, April 19, 2026, will be cold and sunny with a high of only 1°C. Morning wind chills may reach as low as -17°C, and Health Canada notes that wind chill values of -10°C and lower can pose a risk for hypothermia and frostbite during extended outdoor exposure. There are currently no weather alerts in effect for the city.
A noticeable warm-up is on the way for the community. Temperatures are projected to climb mid-week, with a sunny Wednesday, April 22, reaching a high of 15°C. This will bring some relief, as it is several degrees warmer than the seasonal average high of 11°C for this time of year.
The mild conditions will be short-lived, however. Rain and the potential for snow are expected to return on Thursday and Friday.
