Commuters in Sherwood Park will see a temporary change to transit services as Strathcona County Transit suspends Route 415 from April 27 to August 28, 2026. This service, which provides a direct link from the Bethel Transit Terminal to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, follows an established seasonal operating pattern that has been in place since the route was created in 2024.
Route 415 was initially launched as a replacement for Route 413, which was moved due to downtown construction related to the Valley Line project. By traveling through north Edmonton via the Belvedere station, the route was designed to provide an express connection that avoids the downtown area. Service on this route is expected to resume on August 31, 2026.
The suspension period coincides with the introduction of a new Spring Term U-Pass for students at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, which is valid from May 1 to August 31, 2026. While the pass provides unlimited access to transit across the Edmonton region, including regional partners like the Edmonton Transit Service, students who rely on the direct connection may need to plan for longer commute times during the summer months.
In addition to the changes on Route 415, the bus service to the University of Alberta, known as Route 414, will also shift to a seasonal schedule ending on August 28, 2026. Residents are encouraged to review their travel plans as these regional transit adjustments take effect for the spring and summer season.
