Local businesses and caterers in Peguis, Manitoba, now have a chance to provide food services for upcoming community gatherings. The Peguis Treaty Land Entitlement Trust issued a call for catering tenders on April 2, 2026, to support various events, including the organization’s upcoming Annual General Meeting on May 8, 2026.
The Trust manages settlement funds aimed at fulfilling the historical land commitments promised to the Peguis First Nation under Treaty 1, which was first signed in 1871. Following decades of advocacy, the federal government finalized a settlement in 2008 that provided the community with approximately $64 million and entitlement to thousands of acres of additional land.
Operations for the Trust are overseen by two groups of trustees who work alongside Chief Dr. Stan Bird and the band council. Financial trustees manage the administrative side of the settlement funds, while community fund trustees are responsible for local projects. This catering opportunity is part of the ongoing efforts to engage community members and businesses in the work of the Trust.
Those interested in submitting a tender application can contact the Trust office, which is located in the former Peguis Custom Cabinet Shop. Further information is available by calling 204-645-3943 or by sending an email to [email protected].
