Visitors planning to explore Kluane National Park and Reserve in the Yukon can now prepare for the 2026 summer season as Parks Canada begins opening its seasonal facilities. The park, which spans 21,980 square kilometres and is home to Canada‘s highest peak, Mount Logan, will see its main visitor services resume operations throughout May.
The visitor centre located in the Da Kų Cultural Centre in Haines Junction will open its doors daily from 9 am to 5 pm starting May 15. The facility will remain open to the public until September 20. Additionally, the Thechàl Dhâl’ Visitor Centre is set to welcome visitors from May 20 through September 6, with daily hours running from 10 am to 4 pm.
For those looking to stay overnight, the Kathleen Lake Campground begins accepting visitors on May 15, with operations continuing until September 20. The site offers 38 campsites equipped with potable water, firewood, bear-proof storage, and campfire rings. Campers are reminded that advance reservations for these spots opened earlier this year on January 20.
While planning their trips, visitors are encouraged to review the current safety information for the park. An active closure is currently in place for the Thechàl Dhâl’ Ridge Route area to protect the local Dall’s sheep population. Official updates on park conditions can be found on the main park website.
