Residents of Tecumseh can celebrate Victoria Day weekend with the return of the annual fireworks display at Green Acres Optimist Park on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach is hosting the event, which features food vendors, live music, and a pyrotechnic show.
The evening gets underway at 6:00 PM with various food vendors offering items such as hot dogs, tacos, ice cream, and snacks. Local rock band Cybolism will perform for attendees from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The fireworks display is expected to begin at approximately 9:45 PM. In the event of inclement weather, the display will take place on May 17.
This year marks the 48th edition of the fireworks, a tradition the club has organized annually since 1978. The event was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The celebration is supported by presenting sponsor Rock Developments.
According to the club, proceeds from the fireworks help fund community initiatives and youth programming. This includes support for the organization’s youth soccer league, which serves over 1,000 participants, as well as HOBY Youth Leadership seminars and various local charitable efforts.
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach, currently led by President Melissa Coulbeck, continues to maintain the event at the park located at 13731 St. Gregory’s Rd. The club traces its local history back to its founding by 45 charter members under the leadership of then-Reeve Fred H. Cada.
