The Almonte Farmers Market returns for its 2026 season on Saturday, May 16, bringing local food and handmade goods back to the community. Residents can visit the market every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through October, concluding over Thanksgiving weekend.
The market is located along the Alameda, a tree-lined stretch of the Ottawa Valley Rail Trail, sitting immediately next to the Almonte Library at 155 High Street. This site has hosted the event since its move from the library parking lot, where it operated between 1990 and 2022.
With over 20 local vendors participating, shoppers will find fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, flowers, and prepared foods. Featured vendors this season include Breakfast by the River, Foxglove Farm, Indian Creek Orchard, and Laine Herbals. Visitors can also enjoy live music, grab coffee, and take advantage of benches placed along the trail to enjoy the atmosphere.
The market has a long history in Mississippi Mills, with roots dating back to a downtown market in the late 1800s. The current producer-based version was established in 1990 after local farmers met to rejuvenate the tradition. As a founding member of Farmers’ Markets Ontario, the organization continues to emphasize the community fellowship that defines the town.
