The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is investigating a homicide that occurred late in the evening on May 16, 2026, at a residential building in the 600 block of MacDonald Avenue. Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the property around 11:30 p.m., where they found a victim who was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Following the incident, police arrested 29-year-old Marina Turco and have charged her with second-degree murder. Authorities have confirmed that the victim and the accused were known to each other, though the identity of the deceased has not been publicly released.
Detectives with the police investigation services and the forensic identification unit remain at the scene, which is part of the Heritage Place apartment complex. Residents in the area may notice an increased police presence as the investigation continues.
