Mayor Darcy Dober and Councillor Gregg Apolonio will be in the hot seat on May 23, 2026, as they take part in a community fundraiser at the Dawson Co-op Mall in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
The Rotary Interact Club of Dawson Creek is hosting the Jail and Bail event to raise funds for local causes. As part of this traditional fundraiser, the two local leaders will be symbolically arrested for humorous charges and must raise bail money through community donations to secure their release.
The Interact Club is a youth service organization for individuals aged 14 to 18. It is the first club of its kind in Rotary District 5370 and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dawson Creek and Dawson Creek Rotary Sunrise.
Residents who attend the event at 10200 8th Street will also have the opportunity to purchase the city’s MultiPass. This all-access pass, launched in October 2025, covers drop-in activities at all City of Dawson Creek recreation facilities and is available for youth, students, adults, seniors, and families while supplies last.
Mayor Dober is currently serving his first term as mayor after being elected in October 2022. Councillor Apolonio is also serving his first term on city council and holds the distinction of being the first councillor of Filipino and Asian descent in the history of the community.
