Residents of Camrose will soon have a chance to safely dispose of hard-to-recycle items during the upcoming Beyond-The-Bin Recycling Roundup. The free event is scheduled for June 5 and June 6, 2026, at the old Public Works Building located at 4201-51 Avenue.
The city, in partnership with Alberta Recycling Management Authority, Cazmrose County, and the Village of Bittern Lake, is hosting the roundup to help community members clear out materials that cannot go into standard curbside bins. On Friday, June 5, the site will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, June 6, it will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Accepted items include electronics—such as games, toys, music devices, small appliances, and power tools—as well as used oil containers, filters, and paint cans. The event also collects household hazardous waste, which covers products containing corrosive, toxic, flammable, or reactive ingredients. These items should never be poured down the drain or thrown in regular garbage.
This initiative follows a successful 2025 program where more than 500 residents participated, resulting in the collection of approximately 27,000 kilograms of material. Camrose City Council has approved two roundup events for 2026, with a second session planned for October 2 and 3. While these roundups continue, the city is also looking into the possibility of opening a permanent, staffed hazardous waste depot in the future.
For any questions regarding the event, residents can contact Amy Johnson, Senior Municipal Engineering Technologist, at 780-672-4428.
