The hospital issued a public warning on May 12, 2026, after receiving reports that individuals were using unauthorized domains to pose as staff members.
The fraudulent domains being used in these schemes are southlakeregionalproject.ca and southlakeprojects.ca. These websites are not affiliated with the hospital, which serves the Aurora area from its main location at 596 Davis Drive in Newmarket. According to the health centre, these sites have been used to contact vendors and attempt to place unauthorized orders for various products and services.
Hospital officials have confirmed there is no evidence that the organization’s internal computer systems have been compromised. The incident has been reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
To protect against this fraud, businesses are advised to carefully check the sender’s email address on any incoming requests. Vendors should not share financial or sensitive business information with unverified contacts. The only official operating domain for the hospital is southlake.ca, and any purchase requests should be verified by contacting the organization directly through that website.
