Selkirk residents now have a closer option for routine lab tests with the opening of a new Dynacare laboratory at 100 Easton Dr. Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara announced the opening on May 28, saying the facility will help connect more people in the Interlake-Eastern region to important diagnostic services without long trips.
The lab, which opened its doors on May 21, 2026, sits inside the Interlake-Eastern Health Services building. It offers blood and urine collection, Harmony non-invasive prenatal testing, and glucose tolerance testing. The site runs Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is the only Dynacare location in Selkirk.
“Improving access to care closer to home means making it easier for Manitobans to get the services they need in their communities,” Asagwara said in a statement. The lab is a joint effort between the Manitoba government, Dynacare, Shared Health, and the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.
The opening is part of a five-year, $42.4 million agreement with Dynacare to expand laboratory services, especially into rural Manitoba. The Interlake-Eastern region covers 61,000 square kilometres and serves about 132,000 people, including 17 First Nation communities, which make up 27% of the regional population. Many residents previously had few local choices for routine blood work or prenatal screening.
Shared Health Diagnostic Services will keep running lab services at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, so people now have more than one place to go for tests in town.
