Residents looking for a fall celebration won’t have to travel far, as downtown Orangeville is gearing up to host its first-ever Oktoberfest Beer Festival on Saturday, September 19th, 2026. The free street festival will take over Mill Street, transforming the downtown core into a Bavarian-style gathering complete with beer gardens, German food, and live entertainment.
Presented by the Downtown Orangeville BIA, the new event will be anchored by local favourite The Taphouse Craft Beer + Kitchen, located at 34 Mill Street. Festival food will include giant pretzels, sausages with sauerkraut, and other traditional fare, while Caledon Hills Brewing Company pours authentic German-style beers. The Palgrave brewery is run by Munich-born brewmaster Stefan Riedelsheimer, who specializes in European classics like Vienna Lager and Bohemian Pilsner.
The BIA noted that this is the first dedicated Oktoberfest event to be added to the downtown events calendar. The organization represents more than 300 businesses and already runs popular annual events such as the Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival and the Joy + Lights Festival. Adding a fall beer festival is part of a push to bring more unique seasonal celebrations to the downtown.
The event on Mill Street is scheduled for one day only, giving residents a taste of the season just before the larger Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest begins later in the month. With road closures handled by the Town of Orangeville, visitors will be able to wander the street freely while enjoying live music and locally made drinks.
