A new $53-million school is ready to welcome Sherwood Park students when classes start this September. Forest Grove School was completed in March 2026, more than a month ahead of schedule, and will open for the 2026-27 school year.
The three-storey building along Fir Street can hold 1,015 students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. It will offer French immersion from Kindergarten to Grade 6, with both English and French immersion for Grades 7 through 9.
The Government of Alberta says the project supported over 300 construction jobs. Work started in July 2024 and wrapped up early, giving the school board extra time to get ready before doors open.
Forest Grove replaces two older schools: Sherwood Heights Junior High, which opened in 1959, and École Campbelltown, which opened in 1957. A legacy event on June 11, 2026 will honour both school communities before they consolidate into the new facility.
The school features five learning communities built around open-concept common areas. It is part of the province’s Schools Now program, an $8.6-billion plan to build and modernize more than 100 schools and create over 200,000 new student spaces by 2031/32.
