Peguis First Nation is looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor for the 2026 Treaty Days celebration in Manitoba. The term position was posted on June 3, 2026 through the community’s opportunities portal and gives band members a chance to work during the annual mid-July event.
Treaty Days is the signature gathering for Peguis, featuring a week of live music, sports, and cultural contests. The highlight is a Pow Wow with traditional dance and drumming competitions. This year’s Pow Wow is set for July 21 to 23 at the Peguis First Nation Pow Wow Grounds.
The hiring comes as the community continues to recover from severe spring flooding in April 2026 that threatened about 225 homes and forced some evacuations. Chief Dr. Stan Bird, elected in 2023, has been leading recovery efforts alongside talks with provincial and federal officials about long-term flood protection.
The Peguis First Nation Training & Employment department handles the hiring process. Acting Manager and Employment Insurance Liaison Alana Cochrane and her team help unemployed or underemployed band members, both on and off reserve, gain skills and find work. The Maintenance Supervisor role is one of several recent postings, including a Support Worker and an Administrative Coordinator, as the department creates more employment opportunities for members.
Interested band members can find details and apply through the community’s opportunities portal.
