Innisfail, Alberta, is continuing its annual tradition with the Kick-Off to Canada Day, a free, family-friendly celebration on June 30, 2026. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Napoleon Sports Field, giving residents a chance to enjoy live music, food trucks, and fireworks before the official July 1 holiday.
The evening starts with a family area open until 9:30 p.m., featuring an inflatable obstacle course, a bouncy castle, and yard games hosted by the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. Face painting will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Food trucks on site include Gammy’s Ice Cream Truck, Irish Ivy, and Tank Oak N’Annie’s, while a beer garden will be run by Dark Woods Brewing, a local craft brewery that opened in Innisfail in 2020.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the evening. Performers include Highland dancers from Macleod of Lewis, the Parkland Dixielanders, a family comedy show called Calf Skit presented by Bull Skit Comedy, and musical acts TEN02 and Cole Martin & Band. The event will also feature O’Canada and dignitary speeches.
As the night winds down, the town’s annual Canada Day fireworks display will begin at 11:00 p.m., weather permitting, launched from the sports field just west of the Innisfail Twin Arena. If weather becomes an issue, the whole celebration will move inside the Innisfail Twin Arena at 5804 42 Street.
This June 30 kick-off has become an annual tradition in Innisfail, with similar events held each year since at least 2023. It lets locals get a head start on the holiday while still leaving July 1 open for other activities, such as those planned at the Innisfail and District Historical Village.
